Athlone Food Story Workshops

New opportunity for Athlone food sector

food story 2021

Are you involved in the food sector in or around Athlone?

If so, make sure you’re part of this exciting initiative to promote Athlone food led by Athlone Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Destination Athlone, funded by Westmeath County Council. The first step will be compiling a comprehensive directory of all businesses involved in the food industry. This includes producers and restaurants, cafés, gastro-pubs, food experiences/tours, hotels, breweries and distilleries. Quality food and local food are becoming increasingly important both to visitors and to local people, Athlone has a strong and proud food story which is not very well known outside the region.

“This is a really exciting opportunity for everyone involved in food in Athlone. We want to put Athlone firmly in the centre of Ireland’s food map”, said Gerry McInerney, CEO, Athlone Chamber of Commerce, “We are encouraging everyone to register and get involved. We hope to build this initiative over time as a strong support to our food sector and the more businesses who are involved, the better”.

To take part, register for one of the online short workshops scheduled for the end of March and beginning of April. The registration form is at http://www.athlonechamber.ie/athlone-food-story-workshops.
